BlueCD is a software product for the iSeries & AS/400 software development community.
The iSeries & AS/400 CD-ROM drive finally provides a common media format that software developers can standardize on as a distribution media.
Until recently, developers had to purchase or have access to a wide variety of tape formats, some of which are very expensive. And the various tape format are expensive!
But, since the introduction of the RISC-based iSeries (AS/400) series several years ago, every AS/400 can be counted on to have a CD-ROM drive. The problem has been that creating CD-ROMs has been difficult and time consuming for many smaller developers without a lot of resources at their disposal.
BlueCD simplifies the job and makes distributing of software an affordable alternative for most developers. To create a CD-ROM, all the developer has to do:
Create an installable tape.
Load the tape in the tape drive and run the BlueCD utility. All of the needed installation objects will be created in the IFS (including Shared Folders) on the iSeries (AS/400).
Transfer these objects to a CD - using a PC-based writable CD drive.
You can in the same process, enclose any PC based programs or files like, PC applications, presentations and manuals.
